organisational discovery

The Artem discovery process is underpinned by our philosophy on learning being intentional and bespoke. To design a program that will make a measurable and observable difference in an organisation, it is imperative that we develop a sound understanding of the challenges being faced and listen to the concerns of key stakeholders. Having an understanding of the context is fundamental to our approach.

The discovery process helps us to determine what is possible in the organisation, what appetite people have (at an organisational and individual level), for improving their knowledge, skills and behaviours, and how we can best provide an impactful experience given learner readiness, organisational constraints and expectations.  This process may also uncover what is blocking the system, hindering people from performing at their best or from achieving the organisational goals, strategy and performance.

Often these learnings go beyond the initial issues presented. In this way, the discovery itself can add significant value to an organisation through sharing insights into what is enabling or hindering people beyond what is being experienced by senior stakeholders directly, who can be blinded by their own organisational assumptions.

Through a structured method we work with the senior leaders, key stakeholders and targeted development group(s) to identify the major challenges and opportunities they are facing and how these are being tackled. Ultimately, we surface the capability gaps to be addressed, and this provides an initial framework for development.

In terms of development, we believe focusing on three levels of awareness is important. We begin working at the individual level by exploring values, beliefs and mindsets that drive behaviours, then move to the team dynamics and ultimately to the systemic and cultural context within which the organisation operates.

Our discovery findings are reported back (anonymously) to our client, providing key data and insights about people and what they are experiencing. This report forms the foundation of our design process as we co-create a development experience with organisational input coupled with our expertise in learning and learning design.
